Dennis Higman and his wife, Lee, an artist, live in the remote, high mountain desert of southwest Idaho with their horses and dogs. Surrounded by wild animals and birds with a relentless will to survive, amidst pottery shards and magnificent arrowheads of the Shoshone Indians who once hunted here, it is a place where imagination thrives and spirits ride the wind. This is the world that inspired Dreams of Appaloosas, A Love Story, where reality is not necessarily what we see but what we feel, believe and create.
A world where those we love, family, friends, and animals are a constant presence, a love that never dies. A place of incredible beauty but haunted by a violent past with unmarked graves of the first Americans whose wandering spirits cry out for redemption. Dennis is the author of two previous novels, Pranks and Laura Jordon and, with Lee, wrote, Dot’s Story, a children’s book about their shelter dog.
